1 Corinthians 15:1-9

Warm-Up

What is something in your life that completely changed you (a moment, event, or realization)? What made that change stick?

Sermon Discussion

Read - 1 Corinthians 15:1–9 and Acts 2:29–33

Key Insight: Paul says the resurrection is not secondary—it is the gospel we are saved by.

1. The Resurrection Started and Sustains the Church

Key Texts:1 Cor. 15:1–2; Acts 2:23–32; Matt. 7:21–23; John 2:23–24

According to 1 Corinthians 15:1–2, what does it mean to “hold firmly” to the gospel?

Why do you think some people appear to believe (John 2:23–24) but aren’t truly changed?

What’s the difference between being around church and being part of Christ’s church?

Key Insight: The resurrection didn’t just start the church in Acts 2—it continues to sustain real faith. False faith fades; real faith holds fast.

Application: Where are you tempted to “coast” spiritually instead of holding firmly?

2. The Resurrection Confirms God’s Word is True

Key Texts:1 Cor. 15:3–4; Isaiah 53:5–11; Psalm 16:10; 2 Tim. 3:15–16; Rom. 10:17

What stands out to you about how specific the prophecies are (Isaiah 53, Psalm 16)?

Why does it matter that Jesus’ death and resurrection happened “according to the Scriptures”?

How does the resurrection strengthen your trust in the Bible?

Key Insight: The resurrection is God’s validation stamp on Scripture. This isn’t blind faith—it’s fulfilled promise.

Application: What is one area where you need to trust God’s Word more than your feelings or circumstances?

3. The Resurrection Still Changes Lives

Key Texts:1 Cor. 15:5–9; Gal. 1:13–16; Rom. 6:5–11

Why does Paul highlight eyewitnesses (v.5–8)? What does that add?

What’s most powerful about Paul’s personal transformation (v.9; Gal. 1)?

According to Romans 6, what does it mean that we are united with Christ in His resurrection?

Key Insight:If the resurrection could change Paul (a persecutor into a preacher), it can change anyone in this room.

Application: Where do you need resurrection power in your life right now (habit, fear, identity, purpose)?

Personal Application & Challenge

  • Has the resurrection truly changed your life—or just your beliefs?

  • Are you actively part of Christ’s church, or just attending?

  • What is one step you can take this week to be in God’s Word and trust Him more?

  • Who is one person you can share the message of Jesus with this week?

Optional Prayer Prompts

  • Thank God for the resurrection

  • Ask for real, lasting transformation

  • Pray for boldness to share the gospel
