1. Free from Sin’s Dominion (vv. 14–18)
Read Romans 6:14–18.
What does it mean that sin is no longer our “master”?
How do you see people today living as if sin is still in charge?
Why is it impossible to serve both sin and God at the same time?
Takeaway: In Christ, freedom doesn’t mean doing whatever we want—it means freedom from sin’s control so we can serve God.
2. Ability Not to Sin (vv. 17–19)
Read Romans 6:17–19.
Before Christ, were we able to stop sinning on our own? Why or why not?
How does God’s Word and Spirit help us say “no” to sin?
Can you share a time when God helped you resist temptation?
Takeaway: We are no longer powerless—God equips us to live in righteousness.
3. Have a New Master (vv. 20–23)
Read Romans 6:20–23.
How is serving God different from serving sin?
What kind of “fruit” comes from each kind of life? (v. 21–22)
How does verse 23 summarize the good news of the gospel?
Takeaway: We now joyfully serve a new Master—one who gives life, not death.
Application
Be in the Word (1 Peter 2:2; Jeremiah 15:16)
How does regular time in Scripture keep us strong against sin?
What’s one practical step your family/small group could take to grow in the Word this week?
Pursue Righteousness (Romans 12:1; John 14:15)
What does pursuing holiness look like in daily life?
What’s one area where God is calling you to live more faithfully for Him?
Closing Thought
Freedom in Christ isn’t about living without a master—it’s about serving the right Master. Sin leads to death, but serving God leads to life, joy, and holiness.
Prayer Prompt: Thank God for setting us free from sin, ask Him to help us walk in holiness, and surrender ourselves again as servants of Christ.
