Warm-Up
What is one thing your mom (or a mother figure) has taught you about trusting God?
Foundational Texts
Leviticus 19:3 (CSB) – “Each of you is to respect his mother and father…”
Exodus 20:12 – “Honor your father and your mother…”
Ephesians 6:1–2 – “Children, obey your parents in the Lord…”
Proverbs 1:8 – “Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction, and don’t reject your mother’s teaching.”
What do these verses show us about how God views mothers?
Key Insight: God places mothers in a position of honor and influence. Their role is not just practical but deeply spiritual.
Part 1: Learning from Eve: Trust the Lord for your salvation
Read: Genesis 3:7, Genesis 3:8–12, Genesis 3:15, Genesis 3:9
What happened when Adam and Eve stopped trusting God?
What do you notice about how God responds to them in verse 9?
What hope do you see in Genesis 3:15?
Key Insight: Even in failure, God pursues (“Where are you?”) and promises salvation (Gen 3:15). Eve’s story reminds us that we cannot cover our own sin (v.7) and that we often hide and blame (vv.8–12), but God moves toward us with grace and a promise.
Part 2: Learning from Mary: Trust the Lord for His will in your life
Read: Luke 1:28–30, Luke 1:38, Matthew 1:18–19
What might have made God’s plan difficult for Mary to accept?
What stands out about her response in Luke 1:38?
How does Joseph’s reaction add to the challenge?
Key Insight: Mary faced confusion, social risk, and personal cost. Yet she responded, “I am the Lord’s servant… May it be done to me according to your word.” Trusting God’s will often requires surrender before understanding.
Application
Which is harder for you right now: Trusting God for your salvation or Trusting God with His will in your life?
What is one specific way you can trust God this week?
Closing Prayer
Thank God for mothers and their influence
Thank Him for salvation through Christ
Ask for strength to trust Him in daily life
