Warm-Up
What is something in your life that you are deeply committed to? How does that commitment show up in your daily choices?
Transition: This week we're talking about what followers of Jesus should be dedicated to. Paul reminds us that the Christian life is not merely about attending church or believing certain facts; it is a life devoted to the Gospel, God's Word, and God's mission.
Read 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
According to Paul, what is "of first importance"?
Why is it important that the gospel includes historical events (death, burial, resurrection) and not merely good advice?
1. Dedicated to the Gospel
Read 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Romans 3:23, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Peter 2:24
What problem does the gospel solve?
Read Romans 3:23 and Job 25:4.
Why is humanity unable to make itself right with God?
Read 2 Corinthians 5:21 and 1 Peter 2:24.
What stands out to you about Christ taking our sin upon Himself?
What did Jesus accomplish for us?
Why is Genesis 3:15 significant?
How does God's promise in Eden point forward to Jesus?
What does this teach us about God's plan of redemption?
Read 2 Peter 1:3-9.
Peter says God's power has provided everything we need for life and godliness. Do you live more often from confidence in God's provision or from spiritual self-reliance?
Which Christian quality listed in this passage do you most need to grow in right now?
Takeaway:Â The gospel is not merely how we begin the Christian life; it is the foundation upon which we continue to live every day.
2. Dedicated to the Word
Read 2 Timothy 3:15-17, Hebrews 4:12-13,
According to Paul, what are the Scriptures able to do?
What does it mean that Scripture can make us "wise for salvation"?
What are the four purposes for God’s Word listed in 2 Timothy 3:16?
Hebrews says God's Word is living and active. When have you experienced Scripture exposing something in your heart or changing your perspective?
If someone observed your schedule this week, would they conclude that God's Word is a priority in your life?
What practical step can you take this week to spend more intentional time in Scripture?
Takeaway: We cannot be dedicated to Christ while neglecting the Word that reveals Him.
3. Dedicated to Evangelism and Mission
Read Acts 1:8, Romans 10:14-15, 2 Corinthians 6:1-2, 1 Corinthians 11:26
According to Acts 1:8, who is responsible for being Christ's witnesses?
Is witnessing reserved for pastors and missionaries?
What challenge does Romans 10:14-15 present?
What must happen before someone can believe?
Why does Paul emphasize "today" in 2 Corinthians 6:1-2?
What dangers come from assuming there will always be another opportunity?
How does Communion connect to evangelism?
Read 1 Corinthians 11:26.
What does it mean that every time we take Communion, we "proclaim the Lord's death until he comes"?
Who is one person God may be prompting you to pray for or share the gospel with?
What is one practical step you could take toward that person this week?
Takeaway:Â The gospel we cherish is the gospel we share.
Closing Challenge
Complete this sentence: "This week I will be more dedicated to __________ by __________."
Possible Examples:
The Gospel by remembering God's grace every morning.
The Word by reading a chapter of Scripture each day.
Evangelism by praying for and contacting a specific person.
Closing Prayer
"Father, thank You for the gospel of Jesus Christ, His death for our sins and His resurrection from the dead. Help us to remain dedicated to the gospel, devoted to Your Word, and faithful in Your mission. Empower us through Your Spirit to live as witnesses for Christ until He comes again. In Jesus' name, Amen."
