A Faith That Works

Text: Titus 3:1–7

Warm Up

Without sharing names, describe someone whose actions spoke so loudly that it showed what they believed—whether good or bad?

Transition: James said, ‘Faith without works is dead’ (James 2:17). Paul told Titus that our faith should be visible through transformed lives. Let’s explore what that kind of faith looks like.

Sermon Discussion

Read the Passage (Titus 3:1–7).

Remember—Actions Speak Louder Than Words

  • Titus 3:1–2; Matthew 22:21; Romans 13:1; 1 Peter 2:13; Acts 5:29

  • Believers are called to good works that reflect respect, humility, and obedience—without compromising God’s truth.

  • Genuine faith expresses itself in how we speak, serve, and submit.

Why do you think Paul emphasizes “be ready for every good work” (Titus 3:1)?

How can Christians show both respect for authority and loyalty to God’s higher authority at the same time (compare Acts 5:29)?

In what ways do our words and attitudes make the Gospel attractive—or unattractive—to others?

Remember by Grace Who You Are

  • Titus 3:3–7; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:1–5; Ezekiel 36:25–27

  • Paul reminds us that we were once lost, enslaved by sin, and blind to truth—but God saved us not by works of righteousness we had done, but by His mercy.

  • Our saved, changed life is a result of the Holy Spirit’s renewal, not self-effort.

Why do you think Paul reminds Titus of who believers used to be (v.3)?

How does remembering God’s mercy (v.5) motivate us to live differently today?

What difference does it make in your daily life to know you’ve been “renewed by the Holy Spirit” (v.6)?

Application

Where do your actions need to better reflect your faith this week?

Which “good work” could you be ready for—at home, work, or church?

How can you show love to God and others in a tangible way (Titus 3:1–2; Matt. 22:37–39)?

Who could help you stay accountable to living out your faith daily?

Closing Thought:

Faith that works doesn’t earn salvation—it reveals it. We were saved by grace, renewed by the Spirit, and set free to do good works that point people to Jesus.

Closing Prayer Idea:

Pray thanking God for His mercy and asking for renewed strength to live out a visible, grace-filled faith this week.
